Connecting the Bio-Rad D-10 to your LIS or EHR
HbA1c testing on a benchtop analyser is dependable, but the numbers still have to reach the systems your clinic runs on. Where that last step is manual, someone reads a value off the analyser or a printout and keys it into the patient record. That takes time, it is easy to transpose a digit, and the record of who did what can be thin.

What the Bio-Rad D-10 measures
The Bio-Rad D-10 is a benchtop analyser that uses high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to measure glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) and, on the relevant programme, to screen for haemoglobin variants. It is commonly used for diabetes monitoring and haemoglobinopathy screening, and the tests available depend on which programme the site runs on the analyser.

How the D-10 connects
The D-10 presents its results through a host interface that speaks ASTM (LIS2-A), the messaging family long used to move results between laboratory analysers and information systems. Depending on how a site is wired, that interface runs over a serial (RS-232) port or over the network, and Catenix can meet it either way.
ASTM, in the LIS2-A form, is a well-established standard for exchanging results between an analyser and a receiving system. In broad terms, each message carries the identifying details of a test event and the values that go with it, structured so that a receiving system can file them against the right record. Catenix speaks this general interface. We do not need, and this page does not publish, any vendor-specific internal detail about how individual values are laid out.
At your site, a small Catenix gateway receives the result messages the D-10 sends. Where the analyser connects over a serial port, a simple serial-to-network adapter bridges it to the gateway. The gateway is the only piece of new hardware Catenix introduces, and it runs quietly alongside your existing kit.
Results and quality control in Catenix
Once the gateway receives a result, Catenix records it in your cloud workspace with a timestamp and keeps an audit trail of what arrived and when. Nothing is retyped, so the value in the record is the value the analyser produced.
Benchtop analysers also produce quality-control runs, the checks that confirm the instrument and reagents are behaving as expected. Catenix identifies these QC runs and keeps them separate from patient results, so a control sample never lands in a patient's record and your QC history stays intact for review. This separation is worked out from the information in the incoming results, without any change to how the analyser is used.
From there, Catenix can forward the patient results onward to the systems your site already runs, such as a LIS or an EHR. The result flows once, automatically, from the analyser through to the record, and the same audit trail follows it.

To connect a D-10, a site typically needs the analyser's host interface configured to send results, a Catenix gateway reachable on that connection, and agreement on where patient results should be delivered. Can I connect a Bio-Rad D-10 to my LIS?
Yes. The D-10 offers an ASTM (LIS2-A) result interface, and Catenix captures results from it and can forward them to a LIS or EHR. The main requirement is that the analyser's host interface is set to send results and that a Catenix gateway is reachable on the same network or serial link.
Do I need new hardware to make this work?
