Cookie policy.
We keep cookies to the bare minimum. No advertising, no cross-site tracking, no behavioural profiling — just what the site genuinely needs to work.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website can store on your device. Similar technologies — such as local storage — work in much the same way. Some are essential for a site to function; others are used for analytics or advertising. Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), non-essential cookies need your consent.
Our approach
This website sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We measure how the site is used with a single, privacy-first analytics tool (PostHog) configured to run cookieless — it stores nothing on your device, keeps no cross-session identifier, and honours Do-Not-Track. Because no non-essential information is stored on or read from your device, no PECR consent banner is required; for the limited usage data it does process, we rely on legitimate interests under the UK GDPR.
We deliberately keep the site lightweight. The only browser storage in play is whatever is strictly necessary to serve and secure the pages.
Cookies and storage we use
| Name / type | Purpose | Type & duration |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting / security tokens (set by Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps) | Keep the site available and protect against abuse; load-balancing and request routing. | First-party, essential. Session or short-lived. |
| Theme / display preference (browser local storage, if you change a display setting) | Remember a non-personal display choice so the page looks the same next visit. | First-party, essential. Persists until you clear it. |
Our analytics is cookieless, so it sets no analytics cookies and writes nothing to your device. We set no marketing or social-media cookies. If that ever changes, we will update this page and, where the law requires, ask for your consent first.
Third-party services
A few third parties are involved in how the site loads or is measured, and they may receive technical data (such as your IP address) when their resources are requested:
- PostHog (EU) — privacy-first product analytics, hosted in the European Union, active only when analytics is enabled on the site. It runs in cookieless mode: no cookies, no local storage, no cross-session identifier — any session state is held in memory only and is gone the moment you leave. It receives anonymised usage events and your IP address to produce aggregate site statistics. Do-Not-Track is honoured. See our Privacy Notice.
- Regional-availability lookup (ipwho.is / ipapi.co) — when a page loads, a script asks a geolocation service which country you are browsing from, so we can confirm the site is available in your region. The service receives your IP address and returns only a country code; nothing is stored on your device and no identifier is kept. This is an essential, consent-free network call — it sets no cookies and involves no tracking.
- Google Fonts — we load the Inter and JetBrains Mono typefaces from Google's font service, which receives your IP address as part of serving the font files.
- FormSubmit — when you submit the contact form, your details are relayed to us through FormSubmit (formsubmit.co). See our Privacy Notice for the detail.
How to control cookies
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Because the cookies we use are strictly necessary, blocking them may stop parts of the site from working as intended, but it will not expose you to advertising trackers — there aren't any here.
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
- Safari — Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
