Opening a clinic that tests blood on site: the software you need
Quick answer
A clinic that runs its own blood tests needs six things from its software: patient registration, a connection to each analyser so results are never typed, quality control with lockout, clear patient and clinician reports, billing for tests and packages, and an audit trail. Catenix provides all six in one cloud platform, switched on module by module, and sends results to an existing practice system if the clinic already has one.
New clinics often buy an analyser first and discover the paperwork later. The analyser produces a number; the clinic still has to register the patient, get the number into a record without retyping it, prove the analyser was in control, give the patient a report and bill for it. Planning the software at the same time as the analyser saves months.
| What | How Catenix handles it |
|---|---|
| Registration and check-in | Configurable forms, online or at the desk; the order is ready before the sample |
| Analyser connectivity | HL7 v2, ASTM and POCT1-A2 analysers, through an on-site gateway |
| Quality control | Westgard rules, Levey-Jennings charts, lockout on failure |
| Reports | Branded patient and clinician reports; GP letters |
| Billing | Tests, packages, invoices and card payments |
| Audit trail | Who did what, on which device, with which lot, and when |
Choosing analysers with the software in mind
Before you buy, check how each analyser reports results (HL7 v2, ASTM or POCT1-A2), whether it can download orders, and whether it keeps an operator list. These decide how much the software can automate. Our device library lists what each supported analyser can do.
If you already have a practice system
Keep it. Catenix can send results and reports into practice and clinic systems such as Semble and other EHRs, while it handles the analysers, QC and records.
Questions people ask
Is there a cloud platform that connects analysers, holds results and handles QC for a new clinic?
Yes. Catenix connects the analysers, keeps results and QC in one record, and adds registration, reports and billing as modules.
Can we start small?
Yes. Start with connectivity and QC for one analyser and add modules as the clinic grows. Pricing is per site with flat-priced add-ons and no per-test fees.
Does Catenix interpret results?
No. It records and displays what the analyser produced, with full traceability. Clinical interpretation stays with your clinicians.
