Buyer's guide · Wellness, longevity & men's health

Sell the screen. Run it in one system.

If your clinic sells health screening as a product, the software behind the visit is the product too. Here is how to run booking, payment, results, sign-off, a branded report and a patient app on one connected record.

Wellness, longevity and men's-health clinics sell a promise: come in, get measured, walk out knowing where you stand. The client books and pays online, comes in for a panel, and expects a clear, branded report and a sensible follow-up. The bench work is the easy part. The hard part is the chain around it: taking the booking, taking the payment, getting the result off the analyser with the right person attached, having a clinician sign it, and putting a report in the client's hands that looks like it came from a serious clinic. This guide is about running that whole chain in one place.

Most clinics in this segment start by stitching the chain together: a booking widget here, a payment link there, results read off an analyser screen and typed into a spreadsheet, a report built by hand in a document template, and a follow-up email sent from a personal inbox. It works until it does not. Numbers get transposed. A result sits on a device overnight. The report design drifts from one clinician to the next. And when a client asks a sharp question, or an assessor asks for evidence, the story of a single visit is scattered across five tools. POCT middleware solves the capture problem. A connected clinic platform solves the whole visit.

The visit, end to end

One thread, from booking to signed report.

Every step lives on the same record, so nothing is re-keyed between systems and the story of a visit is in one place.

01
Book and pay
The client self-registers, chooses a screening package, books a slot and pays online before arriving. The booking creates the encounter the rest of the visit runs on.
02
Test at the bench
The panel is run on your analysers. Results are captured automatically over the standards the devices already speak, matched to the client and the operator who ran the test, with no re-typing.
03
Review and sign
Nothing is released until a clinician reviews the results and signs. Interpretation and authorisation stay with your clinicians, exactly where accreditation expects them.
04
Report and follow up
A branded report goes to the client, in their patient app and by letter or PDF, and the follow-up is booked from the same record.

Booking and payment, so the visit starts before the client arrives

Selling screening as a product means the buying happens online. A client should be able to find a package, book a time, register their own details and pay, all without a phone call. With Catenix that self-registration and booking is part of the platform, not a bolted-on widget: the booking creates the encounter the visit runs on, and the payment is captured against it. Reception is not re-keying a name and a package on the morning of the appointment, because the client already did it. On the day, the person walking in is already a record with a booked panel attached. See how the patient management layer handles registration, booking and the patient-facing side of the visit.

Results captured from the analysers, not read off a screen

This is where a clinic that sells testing lives or dies. If the number a client sees came from someone squinting at an analyser display and typing it into a document, the weakest link in your product is a keystroke. A study of manual result entry (Mays and Mathias, 2019, JAMIA) reported a transcription error rate of roughly 3.7%, illustrative of a risk that any manual chain carries. Catenix removes the keystroke: a small gateway on your clinic network captures each result the moment the analyser produces it, over HL7 v2, POCT1-A2 or ASTM, and attaches it to the right client and the operator who ran the test. Quality-control runs are kept separate from client results, so a control is never mistaken for a person's value. The detail of how devices connect is in our guide to connecting an analyser to your record, and you can check which analysers Catenix connects.

Catenix moves and records results: it does not interpret clinical results and provides no clinical decision support. It does not re-calculate values, re-classify results, derive estimated quantities, or auto-flag. That work stays with the clinician and the analyser's instructions for use.

A clinician review-and-sign gate, every time

A screening product with no sign-off is a liability. Catenix holds every result behind a mandatory review-and-sign gate: no report reaches a client until a named clinician has reviewed the results and signed them off. The report then ships with a signed completeness manifest, which is tamper-evidence that the report a client holds is the report the clinician signed, not a legal guarantee. For the clinic this is not friction, it is the thing that lets you charge for the service with confidence and answer a sharp question later with a clear record of who signed what, and when.

A branded report and a patient app, so the product looks like a product

In this segment the report is a large part of what the client is buying. It should carry your clinic's name, your palette and your logo, present the panel clearly, and be something a client is happy to keep and share with their own GP. Catenix builds that branded report from the signed results, and delivers it two ways: as a document (PDF or GP letter) and inside a patient app where the client can see their results, their history and their next appointment. The report and the app are two faces of the same signed record, so they never disagree. Explore the reporting and report-builder layer for how branded reports are composed and released.

Optional add-ons

Enable what fits your product. Leave the rest off.

Catenix is modular: a clinic enables and pays for only the add-ons it uses. Two are worth understanding carefully, because they touch clinical and personal data.

Cardiovascular risk score

An optional add-on can present a validated 10-year heart-risk score, calculated by a certified external engine, alongside the relevant results. It is decision support that a clinician reviews and approves before it appears on a report. It is not a diagnosis, and Catenix does not calculate or interpret it: the score comes from the external engine and the clinician stays in charge of what is released.

Smartphone health-app trends

For clinics building an ongoing relationship, an optional add-on lets a client opt in to share trend data from their smartphone health apps, such as steps, sleep and heart-rate trends, so it can sit alongside their results. It is opt-in and default off: a client chooses to connect it, and nothing is collected unless they do.

Quality and audit that are already inspection-ready

Even a clinic that never seeks formal accreditation benefits from running clean. Catenix captures quality-control results automatically, charts them on Levey-Jennings plots with Westgard multi-rule evaluation, and can hold a device after a failed control. Operator competency populates itself from device traffic where devices transmit an operator identity, so you can show who ran what and whether their training was current. Every login, edit, review and report release is written to a tamper-evident audit trail. This is statistical data-quality monitoring and process control, not interpretation of any client's result. When a client, an insurer or an assessor asks how you know a result is sound, the evidence already exists rather than being assembled after the fact. For clinics that want the fuller lab-grade picture, the quality and governance layer goes into depth.

Pricing that suits a clinic, not a hospital

Screening clinics grow by volume, so a system priced per test punishes success. Catenix is a subscription per clinic or site, with flat monthly add-ons and no per-test fees, so a busy screening day does not inflate your software bill. You enable the modules your product needs (booking, results, reporting, the patient app, and any add-ons) and leave the rest switched off. See how pricing works for the model, and note that specific figures are quoted per clinic rather than published, because the right number depends on your sites, devices and modules.

A short buyer's checklist for this segment

  1. One record, not five tools. Does booking, payment, results, sign-off and the report live on the same record, or are you stitching them together and hoping they agree?
  2. Results captured, not typed. Does the platform connect to the analysers you actually run, so the number on the report is the number the device produced?
  3. A real sign-off gate. Is there a mandatory clinician review-and-sign step before anything reaches a client, with a record of who signed?
  4. A report you are proud to sell. Is the client-facing report properly branded, and is there a patient app so the relationship continues after the visit?
  5. Honest add-ons. Where a risk score or health-app data is offered, is it framed as opt-in, clinician-approved decision support, never as diagnosis?
  6. Pricing that scales with you, not against you. Is it a per-clinic subscription with no per-test fee, so a big screening day does not cost you more in software?

Questions, answered

The questions buyers ask first.

What software does a wellness or longevity clinic need to sell testing?

At minimum: a way for clients to book and pay online, a way to capture analyser results without re-typing, a clinician sign-off step before anything is released, and a branded report the client can keep. Many clinics stitch this together from a booking tool, a payment provider, spreadsheets and a document template. A connected platform runs the whole chain in one place, so the result that leaves the analyser is the same result that reaches the client, unretyped.

Can clients book and pay for a screening panel online?

Yes. With Catenix a client can self-register, choose a screening package, book an appointment and pay online before they arrive. The booking creates the encounter the visit runs on, so reception is not re-keying names and package details on the day.

Does Catenix interpret the results or give a diagnosis?

No. Catenix does not interpret clinical results and provides no clinical decision support. It captures results from the analysers, keeps quality control separate, and holds every result until a clinician reviews and signs. Interpretation, validation and authorisation stay with your clinicians.

Can we add a cardiovascular risk score to the report?

Optionally, yes. Catenix can present a validated 10-year heart-risk score calculated by a certified external engine. It is decision support that a clinician reviews and approves before it appears on a report, not a diagnosis, and it is one of several add-ons a clinic can enable or leave switched off.
