Sentry · available as an add-on on request
Sentry watches the stores your testing depends on: reagent fridges, control fridges, freezers and the room itself. A reading every few minutes, an alert the moment something drifts, and a record that stands up when someone asks what the temperature was doing three weeks ago at 2am.
The gap
It tells you the coldest and warmest point since the last reset. It does not tell you when, for how long, or whether anyone was there to act. A door left ajar after the last clinic on Friday, a compressor that gives up on Sunday night, a power cut nobody noticed: by Monday the number on the dial has been wiped and the reagents in that fridge have already been used.
The cost is rarely the reagents. It is the discarded batch, the repeat visits, the recalled results, and the conversation with an assessor about how you knew.
What Sentry does
A probe in the store, electronics outside it, reporting to your Catenix tenant every few minutes. No visit required, no clipboard, no gaps overnight or at weekends.
Set the acceptable range per location. When a store goes out of range and stays out, Catenix raises it to the people who can do something about it.
A sensor that stops reporting is treated as a problem, not as good news. Power cut, dead battery or a dropped connection all surface the same way.
Every reading is kept against the location and the site, so you can show a temperature trace for any window rather than a signature on a sheet.
Same tenant, same sites, same audit trail as quality control, competency and CAPA. An excursion can be worked through as a CAPA rather than an email thread.
A period report per location: readings, excursions, how long each lasted, and what was done about it. One file, not a folder of photographs.
How it works
The event that matters
The failure that costs a clinic real money almost always starts with the power going off out of hours. A monitor that dies with the fridge is worse than useless, because silence reads as normal.
Sentry units carry a small backup cell. When mains power drops, the unit says so, keeps reading for hours, and tells you the moment the temperature starts climbing rather than the moment you next open the door.
What an alert looks like
Reagent fridge, Main site. Out of range at 02:14. Now 11.4℃, limit 8℃. Running on battery since 02:09. Rising 0.8℃ per hour.
Enough to decide, at 2am, whether this is a walk-in tonight or a phone call in the morning.
Availability
Sentry is not part of the standard subscription and is not enabled by default. Tell us how many stores you want covered and at which sites, and we enable the module on your tenant and ship the sensors configured for it.
Priced on how many locations you are covering and how many sites they sit across. Ask and we will quote it properly rather than sell you a bundle you do not need.
If you are already on Catenix, Sentry appears in the tenant you already use. No second system, no second login, no second supplier to chase.
Most clinics start with the single store that would hurt most if it failed, then extend once they have seen a month of data.
Where the line sits
Sentry is continuous monitoring and alerting that sits alongside your calibrated thermometer, not a replacement for it. It is not a calibrated reference instrument and it does not certify your cold chain. Catenix is connectivity, workflow, record-keeping and data display: it does not interpret results, calculate clinical values, or provide clinical decision support. What to do about an excursion stays with the clinic and the reagent manufacturer's instructions for use.
Questions, answered
Ask us. It is an available add-on rather than a standard feature, so we enable the module on your tenant and ship sensors already configured for your sites. Tell us which stores you want covered and we will quote for that.
No. Sentry gives you continuous readings, alerting and history alongside the calibrated device you already use. It is not a calibrated reference instrument and does not certify your cold chain.
The unit runs on a backup cell, tells you it is on battery, and keeps reporting. Catenix also alerts when a sensor stops reporting altogether, so silence is treated as a fault rather than as normal.
The probe sits inside on a lead and the electronics sit outside, usually on the door frame. A closed fridge is effectively a metal box, so putting the whole unit inside is the classic way to lose the connection.
Standard clinic wifi and an outbound connection to your Catenix tenant. No inbound ports, no fixed IP, and no separate cloud portal.
No. Environmental readings are stored separately from test results and are not part of any patient record or clinical report.
