Connecting a Siemens IMMULITE 1000 to your LIS or EHR
Quick answer
Yes. The IMMULITE 1000 uses ASTM E1394 and can run bidirectionally, with host query, or results-only. In bidirectional mode Catenix answers with the tests ordered in your EHR; in results-only mode tests are chosen on the analyser and Catenix matches results by sample ID. The physical link is confirmed from the analyser's host settings at setup.
The IMMULITE 1000 is a random-access immunoassay analyser running up to 120 tests an hour in random or batch mode, with up to 12 assays on board. Its menu covers allergy, anaemia, bone metabolism, cardiac, diabetes, growth, inflammation, metabolic, oncology, reproductive endocrinology, special infectious disease, TDM, thyroid and ToRCH, plus veterinary assays.
It is designed for labs with low-volume immunoassay work and suits remote laboratories.

Choosing a mode for a small immunoassay bench
Many low-volume sites run the IMMULITE 1000 results-only: the operator programmes tests on the analyser and Catenix pairs each result with the EHR order by sample ID. If you would rather the order drive the work, bidirectional mode lets the analyser query the host, and Catenix replies with what the EHR ordered.
We confirm the mode, the physical port and the test codes from your analyser's host settings during setup, and map each code to the EHR's.
Turbo assays and reagent barcodes
Turbo assays for troponin I, CK-MB, myoglobin, intact PTH and hCG give a first result in 15 minutes rather than 42 in standard mode, so results can arrive at Catenix at different intervals for the same sample. Catenix sends each one as it is matched. Reagent barcodes load calibration information and test parameters on the analyser.
QC and keeping the link up
Control runs that reach Catenix are filed as QC, graded with Westgard rules against your targets and plotted on Levey-Jennings charts. A failed QC holds patient results for that test. The gateway reconnects on its own after a network drop, holds results on site during an internet outage, and keeps every message with its result.

Questions people ask
Is the IMMULITE 1000 bidirectional?
It can be. Bidirectional and results-only modes are both available, and Catenix works with either.
Which protocol does the IMMULITE 1000 use?
ASTM E1394.
Do turbo assay results arrive separately?
Turbo assays report sooner than standard assays, so results for one sample may arrive at different times. Catenix matches and sends each as it comes in.
