Point and Click Solutions provides the Point and Click EHR, an electronic health record (EHR) built for the campus care ecosystem: student health, counseling, athletics, disability services and occupational health on one connected system. The company states it serves more than 350 university sites and 10,000 users, and lists interfaces to lab information systems and lab machines, EKG machines and student health pharmacy systems among its capabilities. The rapid tests run at the health center are what often stays on paper. That is the manual step in between.
Two things push a college health service to connect its analyzers. The first is volume and timing: respiratory season, orientation physicals and athletics screening arrive in waves, and a small clinical team running waived strep, flu, glucose and urinalysis tests cannot key every result into the chart while the waiting room fills. The second is the record: recordkeeping obligations under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA, 42 CFR Part 493) depend on test complexity, the manufacturer's instructions, state rules and any accreditation, and a result that arrives in the chart with the operator, device and quality-control status attached is the simplest way to meet whichever apply.

How do point-of-care results reach Point and Click?
