Connecting a Tosoh AIA-2000 to your LIS or EHR

Quick answer

Yes. The AIA-2000 offers two host connections: ASTM over RS-232C, or HL7 v2.4 over Ethernet. It supports host query, so Catenix can answer each barcoded sample with the tests ordered in your EHR and then send matched results back to the EHR or LIS.

The AIA-2000 is a floor-standing, high-volume fluorescence enzyme immunoassay analyser. It runs up to 200 tests an hour, with 200 sample positions and 960 AIA-PACK test cups on board, covering thyroid, cardiac markers, tumour markers, reproductive hormones, anaemia and metabolic assays.

It comes as an ST model for stand-alone use and an LA model that connects to lab automation while still able to run on its own.

Serial ASTM or network HL7

The AIA-2000 gives you a choice of host link. ASTM on RS-232C is reached through a serial device server; HL7 v2.4 on Ethernet connects to the gateway directly over the lab network. We confirm which one your instrument is set to and how orders flow on it during setup, then map AIA-2000 test codes to the EHR's codes.

Host query, reflex and dilution

With host query, the AIA-2000 asks for each barcoded sample's work and Catenix replies with the EHR's orders. The analyser then handles reflex testing, automatic pretreatment and automatic dilution from 2 to 1000 itself, and the 10-position priority rack keeps STAT samples moving. Catenix keeps every message with the result, so reflexed and diluted results can be traced.

QC history on and off the analyser

The AIA-2000 has on-board QC with Levey-Jennings charts and multirule checks. Where control results reach the host, Catenix files them as QC, grades them with Westgard rules against your targets and holds patient results for any test whose QC fails. The gateway reconnects on its own after a network drop and stores results on site during internet outages.
