Connecting a Siemens CLINITEK Advantus to your LIS or EHR
Quick answer
Yes. The CLINITEK Advantus uses an ASTM (CCS) format over bidirectional 10/100 Ethernet. It can download a load list and sample IDs from the host, so Catenix sends the urine tests ordered in your EHR and returns matched results to the EHR or LIS.
The CLINITEK Advantus is a semi-automated urine chemistry analyser that reads reagent strips by reflectance photometry, at 7 seconds a sample and up to 500 strips an hour. It measures leukocytes, nitrite, protein, blood, glucose, ketone, bilirubin, urobilinogen, pH, specific gravity, creatinine, protein-to-creatinine ratio and urine colour.
Busy clinics, healthcare practices and laboratories use it for point-of-care urinalysis.

| Throughput | Up to 500 strips/hour |
| Barcodes | External reader; Codabar, Interleaved 2 of 5, Code 93, Code 128, UPC |
Load lists from the EHR
The Advantus can download a load list from the host and print it, so staff work through the samples in order. Catenix builds that list from the urine tests ordered in the EHR and sends the sample IDs with it. Results return matched by sample ID and anything unmatched waits for review.
Because the Advantus emulates the CLINITEK 200 and 200+, it is worth confirming which emulation your unit is set to before go-live.
Barcodes, operators and microscopy
An external barcode reader connects through a PC wedge or PS2 port. Staff scan patient and operator IDs and the strip lot and expiry. The analyser can also send a consolidated report that includes manual microscopy results, which Catenix keeps with the strip results.
QC lockout and Catenix QC
The Advantus prompts for QC and can lock out testing when it is due. Control results reaching Catenix are filed as QC, graded with Westgard rules against your targets, and a failed QC holds patient results for that test. The gateway connects over Ethernet, reconnects after drops and stores results on site during internet outages, with every message kept with its result.
