Connecting a DiaSorin LIAISON XL to your LIS or EHR

Quick answer

Yes. The LIAISON XL is bidirectional, with broadcast download and host query. Catenix sends or answers with the tests ordered in your EHR for each barcoded sample, then returns matched results to the EHR or LIS. The protocol and physical link are confirmed from the analyser's host settings during setup.

The LIAISON XL is a fully automated chemiluminescence immunoassay analyser running up to 171 tests an hour, depending on the assay, with 120 samples and continuous loading. Its menu covers endocrinology, hepatitis and retroviruses, metabolic disorders, gastrointestinal disease, infectious disease and tumour markers.

It is used across lab sizes, typically in hospitals above 300 beds with more than 50,000 tests a year.

Orders for a continuously loaded analyser

Because the LIAISON XL reads every rack and sample by barcode, Catenix can either send the EHR's orders in advance or answer as each sample is read. Urgent samples loaded at the front are handled the same way. Results are matched to orders by sample ID, and anything unmatched waits for review.

We confirm the connection type and message format from your analyser's host settings, and map each assay to the EHR's test code.

QC, outages and the audit trail

Where control results reach the host, Catenix files them as QC, grades them with Westgard rules against your targets and keeps Levey-Jennings history; a failed QC holds patient results for that test. The gateway reconnects after a network drop and stores results on site during internet outages, which matters on an analyser that can run walkaway for up to six hours. Every message is kept with its result.
