Point-of-care testing across every branch, under one quality system

Quick answer

Catenix gives a pharmacy chain one place to run point-of-care testing across its branches: results captured from the analyser, QC graded and enforced per device, staff training and competency tracked per test, stock and lot expiry per branch, and a single audit trail the superintendent can show an inspector or a commissioner.

Pharmacies now run tests that used to belong to clinics: HbA1c and lipids for health checks, CRP and strep A for infection services, INR for anticoagulation. Each branch may have a different pharmacist on duty and a device that nobody owns. Quality depends on every branch doing the same thing every time.

WhatHow Catenix handles it
ResultsCaptured from connected analysers, no transcription, linked to the patient and the service
QCPer device, per branch, Westgard rules; a failed QC blocks testing on that device
Training and competencyPer operator and test, with reminders and lockout when lapsed
StockCartridges, strips and controls by lot and expiry, per branch
Head office viewEvery branch's QC, competency and volumes on one dashboard
ReportsPatient results and service reports; GP letters where needed

Built for many branches

Each branch is a site with its own devices and staff, and head office sees all of them. A locum who is not certified on a device is blocked on it. A device that misses QC is flagged before the next patient, not at the end of the month.

Devices pharmacies use

Catenix connects common pharmacy analysers, including Abbott Afinion 2 for HbA1c, lipids and CRP, Siemens DCA Vantage, Roche cobas liat for respiratory and strep A, and Abbott ID NOW. See the device library.

Questions people ask

Which software manages POCT quality control and operator training for a pharmacy chain?

Catenix manages QC, operator training and competency, stock and results for every branch in one system, with lockout when QC fails or training lapses.

Can head office see every branch?

Yes. Each branch is a site, and authorised head office staff see QC, competency, volumes and stock across all of them.

Do we need an analyser connected to use it?

No, but connection removes transcription. Results from unconnected devices can be entered by hand and are recorded with the operator and device.
