In-office test results, into Office Practicum.
Run the test in the office and the result lands in the child's OP chart as discrete data for the provider to review. No reading values off the analyzer, no typing them in.
Quick answer
Yes. Office Practicum (OP) says in-house lab devices can connect directly to OP, so results flow into the patient's chart as discrete data for review, and that its eLabs service matches outside lab results to the chart automatically. Catenix collects each result from your in-office analyzers, checks quality control and patient identity, and sends it into OP through that in-house device route, set up with your practice and OP.
Pediatric offices run a lot of tests in the room: rapid strep, flu and RSV, hemoglobin, lead screening, urine dipsticks and glucose. On a busy day each one is a value read off a small analyzer and typed into the chart between patients.
OP already provides for in-house devices feeding the chart. Catenix gives every analyzer in the office one route into that path, and keeps the quality-control and staff competency records an inspector expects, across every device, in one place.
How results get in
From the analyzer to the OP chart.
What your practice asks Office Practicum for
The connection is set up with your practice and Office Practicum's interface team. These are the steps Office Practicum's own public pages describe, in order.
- Tell OP you want results from your in-office analyzers to arrive in the chart electronically, naming Catenix as the sending system, and ask what OP needs for an in-house device connection.
- Ask OP for any set-up or interface fees and expected timing in writing. OP does not publish them.
- Make sure your in-house tests exist as lab orders in OP so results can match to them.
- We map your analyzer tests to OP and test the feed with you and OP before go-live.

For your IT or interface contact
OP's public pages describe its in-house device connection in functional terms and do not publish a message specification, so the format is agreed with OP. Catenix produces an HL7 v2 observation result (ORU^R01) with LOINC codes where your tests have them, the ordering provider and abnormal flags. Catenix also keeps the analyzer, operator, lot and control status for every result, which is the record a CLIA inspection asks for and which the chart does not hold.
On the analyzer side, Catenix captures results over HL7, POCT1-A2, ASTM or the device's own format. See the device library for how individual analyzers connect, and lab analyzer to EHR for orders, quality-control holds and the audit trail.

Questions, answered
Before you ask.
Can in-office point-of-care results go into Office Practicum automatically?
Yes. OP says in-house lab devices can connect directly to OP, so results flow into the chart as discrete data. Catenix captures each analyzer result, checks it, and sends it through that route, set up with your practice and OP.
Does Catenix have a formal arrangement with Office Practicum?
No. Catenix has no certified, tested or formal arrangement with Office Practicum. Each connection is requested by the practice, set up with OP and tested before go-live.
Why not connect each analyzer on its own?
You can, where a device supports it. Catenix gives every analyzer one route into OP and adds what the chart does not keep: quality-control runs, failed-control holds, and which staff member ran each test.
Do we need a lab information system as well?
No. Catenix sits between the analyzers and OP and keeps the quality-control and operator records itself. If you already run a laboratory system, Catenix can feed that instead.
Catenix sends results through the standard lab results interfaces that the systems named on this page publish or offer, set up with each practice and the vendor.
