In-office test results, into MEDENT.

Run the test in the office and the result goes into MEDENT as a lab result against the right patient. No reading values off the analyzer, no typing them into the chart.

Quick answer

Yes. Catenix collects each result from your in-office analyzers, checks it against quality control and the right patient, and sends it into MEDENT through MEDENT's lab results interface. MEDENT says it already runs two-way lab interfaces with more than 260 hospitals, lab companies and laboratory systems. A connection from Catenix is a new interface: your practice requests it on MEDENT's interface request form, and MEDENT's interoperability department reviews it, quotes it and builds it with you.

Most practices on MEDENT already get send-out results electronically from their reference lab or hospital. The tests run in the office are the gap: glucose, HbA1c, lipids, urine dipsticks, CBCs, rapid strep and flu. Those values are usually read off the analyzer and typed into the chart by whoever ran the test.

Catenix closes that gap. It talks to the analyzers on the bench, keeps the quality-control record an inspector asks for, and hands MEDENT a finished, checked result through the same kind of lab results interface MEDENT uses with outside labs.

How results get in

From the analyzer to the MEDENT chart.

01
Capture
A small Catenix gateway at the practice, or a staff phone running Pocket Gateway, takes each result straight from the analyzer. Nobody reads it off a screen or types it.
02
Check
The result is matched to the right patient and the staff member who ran it. Control runs are kept apart from patient results, and a failed control holds patient results for that test.
03
Send
The finished result goes out as a standard lab result message, through MEDENT's lab results interface, on the route agreed with MEDENT for your practice.
04
File
It lands in the MEDENT chart as a lab result for the clinician to review and sign, with the analyzer, operator and quality-control status kept in Catenix.

What your practice asks MEDENT for

The connection is set up with your practice and MEDENT's interface team. These are the steps MEDENT's own public pages describe, in order.

  1. Fill in MEDENT's Request an Interface form, naming Catenix as the vendor. MEDENT asks for a practice contact, a vendor contact and your MEDENT account number, and recommends sending the form before you sign with any third party.
  2. MEDENT's interoperability department reviews the request. After discovery and a check of the secure connection, MEDENT issues a quote. Programming starts once the practice returns the signed quote and pays the initial development fees.
  3. Set up your in-house tests in MEDENT. MEDENT's lab setup guide says labs collected and resulted in-house need a Lab Company, Lab Test and Lab Profile set up.
  4. We map your analyzer tests to those MEDENT tests and test the feed with you and MEDENT before go-live.

For your IT or interface contact

MEDENT's public pages describe its lab connections as bidirectional interfaces and do not publish a message specification, so the exact format is agreed with MEDENT during discovery. Catenix produces an HL7 v2 observation result (ORU^R01) with LOINC codes where your tests have them, the ordering provider, the performing location and abnormal flags. Where demographics in a result do not match a MEDENT patient, MEDENT's documentation says the result goes to its Lab Results Exception Holding Tank (Account Not Found) for the office to resolve, so nothing files against the wrong chart.

On the analyzer side, Catenix captures results over HL7, POCT1-A2, ASTM or the device's own format. See the device library for how individual analyzers connect, and lab analyzer to EHR for orders, quality-control holds and the audit trail.

Questions, answered

Before you ask.

Can in-office point-of-care results go into MEDENT automatically?

Yes, once MEDENT has built the interface for your practice. Catenix captures each result from the analyzer, checks quality control and patient identity, and sends it through MEDENT's lab results interface. Until that interface is live, Catenix still captures, checks and reports every result.

Does Catenix have a formal arrangement with MEDENT?

No. Catenix has no certified, tested or formal arrangement with MEDENT. Each connection is requested by the practice, reviewed by MEDENT's interoperability department and tested with your practice before go-live.

What does MEDENT charge for a new interface, and how long does it take?

MEDENT does not publish a price. Its interface request page says it issues a quote after discovery, starts programming only after a signed quote and initial development fees, and expects 4 to 8+ months for programming, testing and implementation.

Do we need a lab information system as well?

No. Catenix sits between the analyzers and MEDENT and keeps the quality-control and operator records itself. If you already run a laboratory system, Catenix can feed that instead.

Catenix sends results through the standard lab results interfaces that the systems named on this page publish or offer, set up with each practice and the vendor. Catenix has no certified, tested or formal arrangement with MEDENT, and naming MEDENT here does not imply affiliation with or endorsement by it.
