Connecting a Werfen ACL TOP 550 CTS to your LIS or EHR

Quick answer

Yes. The ACL TOP 550 CTS has a bidirectional host interface with host query, so Catenix can answer with the coagulation tests ordered in your EHR and send matched results back. The protocol and physical link are confirmed from the analyser's host settings during setup.

The ACL TOP 550 CTS is a fully automated coagulation analyser from the ACL TOP 50 Series, with closed-tube sampling by cap piercing. It runs clotting, chromogenic and immunological assays, with up to 240 PT tests an hour, up to 180 APTT tests an hour, or 90 samples an hour for PT plus APTT, and holds 80 samples on board.

It runs from an external dedicated Windows 7 PC.

Coagulation orders from the EHR

With host query, the ACL TOP 550 CTS asks for each sample's tests and Catenix replies with what the EHR ordered, so PT, APTT and other assays are run without re-keying. Results return matched by sample ID; unmatched ones wait for review. We confirm the host link from the analyser's settings and map each assay to the EHR's code during setup.

What stays on the analyser

The ACL TOP 550 CTS keeps its own assay-specific HIL checks, configurable QC multi-rules, result autovalidation, reaction-curve display, audit trail, electronic signature and automatic log-off. Catenix adds a second record: every message the analyser sends is kept with its result. Where control results reach the host, Catenix files them as QC, grades them with Westgard rules against your targets and holds patient results for a test whose QC fails. The gateway reconnects after network drops and stores results on site during internet outages.
