Connecting a HORIBA ABX Micros ES 60 to your LIS or EHR
Quick answer
Yes. The Micros ES 60 supports ASTM and HORIBA's ABX protocol, plus HL7 for EMR connections, with two RS232 ports and an RJ45 network port. Catenix receives its results, files QC as QC and sends matched patient results to your EHR or LIS. How orders are handled is confirmed from the analyser's host settings at setup.
The ABX Micros ES 60 is a compact haematology analyser giving a CBC with 3-part differential, 16 parameters, from 10 microlitres of whole blood. It comes in open-tube and closed-tube versions; the closed-tube version runs 50 samples an hour.

Which protocol and port to use
The ES 60 offers ASTM, its own ABX format and HL7. For a new connection we use the option your unit is configured for, over the RJ45 network port directly or an RS232 port through a serial device server. The closed-tube version's built-in reader identifies patient samples, QC samples and reagent lots, which keeps sample ID matching tidy.
Results are matched to EHR orders by sample ID. If the analyser runs results-only, tests are chosen on the ES 60 and Catenix uses the sample ID to find the order. Parameter codes are mapped at setup.
QC on the ES 60 and in Catenix
The ES 60 has its own QC with Levey-Jennings and XB, and can archive results and download QC targets by USB. Where control runs reach Catenix, they are filed as QC, graded with Westgard rules against your targets, and a failed QC holds patient results for that test. The gateway reconnects after drops and holds results on site during internet outages; every message is kept with its result.
