Connecting a BD Veritor Plus Analyzer to your LIS or EHR
Quick answer
Yes, with a connectivity module fitted. On its own the Veritor Plus only displays a result and keeps a CSV record; with the InfoWiFi module, BD's connectivity diagram shows HL7 results going to an LIS or middleware, which is where Catenix sits. BD asks for a connectivity agreement before EMR integration, and the exact route is confirmed with BD and your team during setup.
The BD Veritor Plus Analyzer is a small handheld reader for BD Veritor rapid antigen tests. It reads the barcode on each test device to know which assay it is, images the strip and reports positive, negative or invalid. In the US the Flu A+B, SARS-CoV-2, RSV and Group A Strep kits are CLIA-waived, so it can be used in waived settings such as physician offices.
Result times are 15 minutes for SARS-CoV-2 and the SARS-CoV-2 & Flu A+B combination, 10 minutes for Flu A+B and RSV, and 5 minutes for Group A Strep. There is no monthly calibration.

The module bay decides what you can connect
A bare analyser has no network link. The InfoScan module adds a barcode reader and lets staff copy a read-only RECORD.CSV file to a PC over USB, after scanning a USB Port Unlock barcode that lasts for that power cycle. The InfoWiFi module adds the same scanning plus wireless transmission, and the Plus Connect accessory runs on a dedicated PC tethered by USB and sends results over Ethernet with BD Synapsys.
For live results in the record, the InfoWiFi route is the one to plan around. BD's diagram shows the analyser handing results to a connectivity application on your network, which passes HL7 to an LIS or middleware. Catenix takes that receiving role and forwards each result to the EHR.
Scan settings worth agreeing before go-live
Out of the box only specimen ID scanning is on; operator ID and kit lot scanning are off. If you switch on kit lot scanning, the analyser will not produce a result until the kit box barcode is read, which is a useful guard in a busy urgent care room. Turning on operator ID means Catenix keeps the operator's ID with every result it receives.
Results are matched to the patient by the scanned specimen ID. Anything that arrives without a matching order waits for review instead of landing on the wrong chart, and each message is stored with its result.
Walk Away, Analyze Now and kit controls
Staff can insert the test device straight away and let the analyser time it (Walk Away, mains power needed, firmware 5.50 or later) or time it themselves and read it on demand (Analyze Now). Kit QC runs in either mode. When control runs reach Catenix they are filed as QC, kept apart from patient results, and a failed control holds patient results for that assay until someone reviews it.

Questions people ask
Does the BD Veritor Plus need a module to send results to an EHR?
Yes. A bare analyser only displays and stores results. The InfoWiFi module or the Plus Connect accessory is needed to transmit them, and BD requires a connectivity agreement before EMR integration.
Which barcodes can the Veritor Plus scan?
With a barcode-reader module it reads Code 128, Code 39, UPC/EAN, Interleaved 2 of 5, Codabar, GS1 DataBar and GS1-128, for operator ID, specimen ID and kit lot.
Can the Veritor Plus receive test orders?
No order download is described for it. It sends results, and Catenix matches them to the EHR order by specimen ID.
