Connecting an Analyticon Urilyzer 100 Pro to your LIS or EHR
Quick answer
Yes. The Urilyzer 100 Pro has an ASTM-LIS2A output with automatic transfer once each strip is read, and offers RS232, USB and, on the Pro, an Ethernet port. Catenix receives those results, matches them to the EHR order and keeps the user ID with each one. The active port is confirmed on your unit during setup.
The Urilyzer 100 Pro is a compact urine strip reader from Analyticon with a 3.5 inch colour touch screen and an autostart that begins reading as soon as a strip is laid on the tray. It reads CombiScreen 11SYS PLUS, 7SYS PLUS and 5SYS PLUS strips at up to 120 tests an hour in FAST mode, or 50 an hour in NORMAL mode.
The Pro version adds the network port, password-protected user profiles, a QC module and larger memory: 3,000 patient results and 1,000 QC results. It is sold in Europe and elsewhere but not in the USA.
| What | How Catenix handles it |

| Output | ASTM-LIS2A with auto transfer |
| Ports | RS232, USB A, USB B, PS2, microSD, Ethernet (Pro) |
| Memory (Pro) | 3,000 patients, 1,000 QC results |
| Users (Pro) | Password profiles, results traced to user ID |
Setting the output menu
On the Urilyzer the host link lives under Settings and Output. Choosing ASTM-LIS2A and ticking Auto transfer makes the reader send each result as soon as the analysis finishes. The output type is selectable; a published connection guide uses USB B, and the Pro also has RS232 and Ethernet. We pick the port that suits your room and point the Catenix gateway at it, through a serial device server if RS232 is chosen.
Patients, users and barcodes
A barcode reader or keyboard plugs into the USB or PS2 port, so patient IDs can be scanned on admission. Catenix matches each result to its EHR order by that ID, and anything without an order waits for review. Because the Pro ties every reading to a password-protected user, Catenix receives and keeps that user ID with the result where the reader sends it.
Strip parameters are mapped to your EHR codes at setup, so blood, leukocytes or protein go to the right field.
QC reminders and lockout
The Pro can remind staff when QC is due and lock testing until it is done, with control ranges loaded from a QR code and the lot and expiry of strips and controls recorded. When those control runs reach Catenix they are filed as QC rather than patient results, and a failed control holds patient results for that test. The gateway keeps each message with its result and stores results on site through an internet outage.
